Some like it extravagant, others prefer it more subtle. We're talking about makeup for everyday use. Elaborate eye makeup like smokey eyes is long gone for everyday wear! The trend is increasingly moving towards more natural looks, where at first glance it looks like you're completely bare-faced. With this natural look, you can conceal pesky pimples and redness in no time, without it being too obvious.
Do you barely have time in the morning for an elaborate makeup look, or simply don't feel like getting up earlier for it? Then pay close attention, because these arguments no longer apply to the no-makeup look. I'll share a few tricks with you, step-by-step, on how to create a beautiful and natural makeup look for the office without much effort.
First, I want to tell you not to be put off by the number of products. Remember, you're aiming for a very minimalist approach, which means you'll need significantly less product than for a full-face makeup. Sometimes, one or two drops of a product are enough. Also, the time commitment is much lower, so you don't have to sacrifice your precious sleep. You don't need to master any specific techniques either, as you can usually just blend everything with your fingers. Since our hands are the number one carriers of bacteria, you should definitely wash your hands thoroughly beforehand. After all, it's bacteria that cause our pimples.
Skincare as a prerequisite for your natural look
- Eye area: Apply some of your cleansing milk to a cotton pad and then cleanse your eye area from the inside out. Gently wipe the pad along your lashes on your skin. Be sure to avoid rubbing the cotton pad, as the eye area is very delicate.
- Face: Now apply your facial cleanser to your facial skin. Don't use too much product: a hazelnut-sized amount is enough here. Gently massage the hazelnut-sized amount in circular motions into your cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin.
- Rinse: In the next step, rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water. Do this until all residues are completely removed. Then pat your skin dry with a towel, and also avoid rubbing vigorously here.
- Clarify face: Finally, apply some facial toner to another cotton pad and sweep it over your entire face. By clarifying your face, you neutralize limescale deposits.
Instructions: How to create your office-friendly makeup
1. Drink plenty of water
Water hydrates your skin from within and gives it a clear complexion. Why not start your day with a glass of warm water? If you like, you can add a little lemon juice for flavor. This not only boosts your digestion but also gives you your first vitamin C kick. Four more glasses throughout the day will follow. This maintains the skin's metabolism and actively strengthens its protective and defense function. It also promotes blood circulation, which can save you from needing highlighter and blush.
2. Foundation as a base for an even-looking complexion
Are you more than happy with your skin? Then you don't need to apply foundation and you can truly enjoy that feeling of bare skin. If not, it's recommended to moisturize your skin thoroughly before using foundation. My secret tip for a moisturizing base is the Hyalove Hyaluronic Serum. This not only provides a better glow but also makes it much easier to blend your makeup. Not a fan of foundations? Then you can alternatively use a BB cream or a tinted day cream.
3. Declare war on your dark circles with concealer
In general, concealer gives your face even more radiance and glow. You can apply it wherever unwanted red areas are visible. To conceal your dark circles, draw a generous triangle under your eyes. Then it's time to blend diligently. Always blend the product in circular motions. This works best with a small beauty blender, such as soft makeup sponges.
4. Harness the power of eyebrow gel
Let me tell you, a transparent eyebrow gel makes your eyebrows appear much fuller. To do this, comb your eyebrow hairs upwards. Then fill in any gaps with the gel. If you notice individual gaps in your eyebrows, you can further densify them with the help of an eyebrow brush or powder in the correct eyebrow color.
5. Eyelash curlers deserve much more attention
Curled lashes make you look much more awake, even if you're still dog-tired. You won't regret buying an eyelash curler! When using an eyelash curler, remember to always use it before mascara, otherwise, your beloved lashes can irrevocably break off.
A little secret tip: If you gently warm your eyelash curler with a hairdryer before use, your lash curl will last longer. For even more volume and longer lashes, also regularly care for your delicate lashes with our LongLashes Eyelash Serum.
6. Mascara as an absolute must-have
Using mascara makes your eyes appear much larger. Apply your mascara directly at the lash line to achieve the desired effect. Pull the brush all the way to the ends. Applying too much mascara will only make your lashes clump, which is why you should use less product. Whenever you think it's too little, it's usually optimal. Quite paradoxical, right?
7. Bronzing is also a must
Bronzer adds more depth to your face by highlighting your contours. It also provides that certain glow. Apply it to your cheekbones, temples, the sides of your nose, and if desired, your eyelids.
Tip: Mix a small drop of self-tanner into your daily night cream. This way, you'll wake up the next morning with a beautiful complexion, as the product had enough time to work overnight.
8. Blush is overrated? Not at all.
No matter what texture you use, blush provides a fresh kick. For the no-makeup look, lighter brown or rose tones are ideal. The rule here is still: Less is more! Therefore, don't apply too much blush to the center of your cheekbones.
9. Shimmering lips are essential
Glossy lips usually make all the difference. Instead of bright colors, opt for nude lipsticks. Choose a shade that matches your natural complexion, as nude lipsticks enhance your own lip color. If that's not enough for you, you can add some glitter by using a gloss with glitter pigments.
10. Highlighter perfectly completes your look
Place the highlighter on your cheekbones, a little on your nose, and above your eyebrows to give your face even more radiance with bright accents. You could achieve the same effect with a lip gloss, in case you don't have a highlighter on hand.
